Antico Borgo di Sugame Chianti Classico: In the best vintages this wine is produced with 100% Sangiovese. Other vintages, a small part of Merlot is added. It is fermented for 12/18 days in steel vats, using native yeasts present on the skins of the grapes. The malolactic fermentation takes place in the oak tonneaux, where the wine then matures for the following 12 months. It is aged for a further 2 months in the still vats, and 2 more months in the bottle itself. Deep ruby red in appearance with a nose that is fruity and characteristic of the traditional Sangiovese grape. On the palate it is tannic with a good structure and long aromatic finish. Can be drunk with traditional Tuscan cold cuts and mature cheese and grilled red meats.

Antico Borgo di Sugame Chianti Classsico Riserva The Riserva is only produced with the best vintages and using the best Sangiovese grapes. Fermented for 12/18 days in steel vats, using native yeasts present on the skins of the grapes. The malolactic fermentation takes place in the oak tonneaux where the wine then matures for the following 12 months. It is further aged in the still vats, and lastly in the bottle itself. Deep ruby red in appearance with ripe fruity nose and hint of vanilla. On the palate is gently tannic with an outstanding structure and long aromatic finish. Can be drunk with traditional Tuscan cold cuts and mature cheese and red meats, but is the best appreciated with game such as wild boar or hare.

Antico Borgo di Sugame IGT Rosato Toscana: Produced with 100 % Sangiovese grapes. The must is separated from the skins after just a few hours on contact, giving it its bright colour. It is then made like a white wine and expresses all the flavours of the Sangiovese grape, but with the freshness of a white win without losing the structure of the red.

Antico Borgo di Sugame IGT Rosso Toscana: produced with 85% Sangiovese grapes and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Fermented in steel vats per 12 - 15 days, where it stays until bottling in March. This red wine is a young well structured wine, ruby red in colour and expressing the primal flavours of the grape. On the palate it is slightly tannic and has a good finish. Good with mature cheeses, pasta and red or white meats.

At Borgo di Sugame, we produce a small amount of chestnut flower and millfiori (wildflower) honey.

Borgo di Sugame Olive Oil is made from several varieties of olive tree: Frantoio, Leccino, Moraiolo. The olives are hand-picked and transported to the organic ‘frantoio’ within 48 hours. The oil extraction is cold pressed so that olive oil produced is therefore the best possible.
