Lorenzo has always enjoyed new challenges and takes them on with a sense of duty and without fear of the hard work involved. He runs the farm almost single-handed with help for harvesting and manual labour in the vineyards. |

Lorenzo is essentially a family man and known for his wit, kindness and charm. The only time he is not busy outside is when it is raining. If he is not harvesting the grapes, he will be hand-picking his olives, or jarring up his honey or chopping wood for the winter or, indeed, cleaning the apartment for the next arrivals of guests. |
|

Lorenzo’s passion for the land and cultivating it is what you first perceive on meeting him. It is what he has always aspired to do and his dream was always to have a farm in Tuscany (or in Africa where his family lived when they were children.) If you listen to him talk about the wine, you can hear how he puts his heart and soul into every one of those bottles. |

Starting in the year 2000 with a shabby, old and unhygienic winery and no modern machinery, but blessed with beautiful south-west facing vineyards, Lorenzo has changed the Borgo di Sugame wines from something incomplete and mediocre into high standard, award-winning and truly excellent wines. With no chemicals applied to the vines nor used in the vats, the wine you drink is the true reflection of the Sugame vineyards and their grapes and of Lorenzo’s experienced hand. |

The land of Sugame was organic when Lorenzo and Catrina took over the farm in 2000. It received the official organic certification in 2002. Lorenzo had been cultivating land organically in Liguria , where he first met his english wife Catrina, prior to coming to Sugame. His experience in organic farming is notable, as is his family history of farming and wine making: his father had a farm in Africa and later a wine producing farm in Piedmont. |
